New regulations apply for all foreigners and Cubans residing abroad
The new regulations in force since 1 May 2010 state that “all travellers, foreigners and Cubans residing abroad” will have to have documents in order to enter the country attesting that they have taken out an insurance policy. travel, covering medical expenses, issued by a broker or organization recognized by the Cuban authorities.
Foreigners on temporary stay on the island will have to be covered by medical insurance underwritten by a “Cuban or foreign” organization, provided it is approved in Cuba, according to the text approved in the Council of Ministers.
Diplomatic staff and “representatives of international organizations accredited in Cuba” are exempt from the application of this regulation.
