I am gathering my paperwork to apply for a long-stay TS visa to France. I have been advised that the French Visa minimum medical insurance requirements do not necessarily mirror those of Schengen Area minimum requirements. I am looking for the product that meets the requirements to obtain a Visa to France, that is fully cancelable should my Visa be denied, is for the duration of my 12 month Visa but could be converted to a Mutuelle should I be able to gain access to the French system and obtain my Carte Vitale prior to the end of the first year. My cursory review of your plans does not reveal such an option but I am not certain I am looking a the correct policy options.

Hello,

Thank you for your message. To recommend the most suitable insurance plan for your French long-stay visa (TS visa), we first need to know the country you’re applying from, as requirements vary depending on your country of residence:

If you are applying from the USA: All of our long-term insurance plans meet the French visa requirements.

If you are applying from the UK: Your policy must cover pre-existing conditions. In this case, we recommend our Gold Visa Safe, Gold Basic, or Gold Nomad plans.

Each country has different expectations, so knowing your country of application helps us tailor our advice.

If you’re looking for a policy that can later be converted into a mutuelle (top-up insurance once you obtain your Carte Vitale), we recommend selecting a Gold plan that includes pre-existing conditions coverage — such as Gold Basic, Gold Nomad, Gold Visa Safe, or our Gold France insurance.

Please note:

The option to convert your plan into a mutuelle is only available if you are under 65 years old.

If you are 65 or older, we do offer compliant options through one of our partners. After the first year, you can then transition to a standard Gold plan if desired.

All the plans mentioned above are fully accepted for French long-stay visa applications due to their comprehensive coverage, including pre-existing conditions and routine care.

Regarding cancellation or modification:

If your visa is denied, you are eligible for a refund before the policy start date. Simply send us the official visa refusal document in PDF format. A 75 EUR per person administrative fee applies.

If your visa decision is delayed and your insurance is about to start, we offer the option to postpone the policy start/end date for a 35 EUR fee.

No changes or refunds are possible once the policy has started, so please keep us informed of any delays or updates in your visa process.

Please let us know your country of residence so we can guide you more precisely.

Have a nice day !
