Travel insurance

I'm a tourist

Travel insurance is essential to cover you in the event of unforeseen circumstances abroad.

You’re going on vacation, visiting a country on your own or with your family. Find out why it’s essential to take out travel insurance tailored to the duration and destination of your trip abroad, including repatriation insurance. Medical costs are rising in many countries around the world. No one is safe from an accident, or from an epidemic virus like Covid. Travel insurance is mandatory in some countries, especially for visas. We compare the best health insurances abroad to provide you with the best coverage during your stay abroad.

Repatriation and assistance coverage for all your trips abroad

I'm looking for travel insurance for less than 90 days

It’s never easy to know how to choose the right travel insurance coverage. We advise you to choose travel insurance that includes reimbursement of medical expenses at 100% of actual costs (i.e. what you actually spend), with a minimum cover of €150,000 and ideally €300,000 if you are traveling to countries with high medical costs, such as the USA. The insurance must include cover for emergency dental expenses in the event of tooth decay or rage, third-party liability, repatriation and assistance. For stays of less than 90 days, it is advisable to have luggage coverage. Beyond that, insurance generally does not cover anything other than air travel, which limits its scope. Travel Pass offers the best value for money.

I'm looking for annual travel insurance

The advantage of annual insurance is that you can travel several times a year at the same insurance rate. Each trip must last less than 90 consecutive days. Guarantees include repatriation, cancellation insurance, direct payment in the event of hospitalization, reimbursement of medical expenses at 100% of actual costs, etc. Horizon365 insurance offers you the best value for your money.

I'm looking for travel insurance for more than 90 days abroad

If you’re leaving for a long stay abroad, your choice of insurance will be similar to that of an expatriate, i.e. someone going to live abroad for at least several months. If you’re not thinking of moving abroad, you can take out insurance offering simple cover and very competitive rates. For medium-term stays, Mondassur has selected 3 very attractive contracts: Gold Backup, Gold Basic and Gold Nomad. These insurances are part of the GoldStart range, which covers from a few months to several years abroad. If you’re going around the world, on a WHV or to spend your retirement abroad, this type of insurance offers excellent value for money and unbeatable health cover.

I'm looking for a complementary health insurance abroad

If you are already covered by an initial social security scheme in your home country, you can opt for supplementary insurance only. Please note that you will need to obtain reimbursement from your 1st insurance company. If you’re not sure, or if you’ll be traveling for more than 90 days, we recommend that you take out insurance that covers 100% of your actual expenses, without the involvement of any other organization, such as one of the GoldStart plans listed above.

I'm only looking for cancellation insurance

There are three cases in which it is strongly recommended to take out cancellation insurance:

  • You’ve bought an expensive holiday or flight, especially for a family trip. Here, we’re talking about a large sum. And since several people are involved, you multiply the risks. If you don’t have a high-end bank card, it may be worth your while.
  • You have booked a flight or a trip at a high rate with a basic bank card.
  • There’s a chance you won’t be able to make the trip (illness or pregnancy of a close relative, bad situation at your company…).

We recommend Travel Pass Cancellation insurance, which can be complemented by healthcare and repatriation assistance cover.

If you already have this cover, you can limit yourself to cancellation insurance only.

Why use Mondassur to find your travel insurance?

Going through an international insurance broker like Mondassur enables you to obtain the contract with the best cover/price ratio. In the specific case of cancellation insurance, you’ll need to pay close attention to the conditions and grounds for reimbursement. Indeed, it’s easy to be tempted to settle for the cancellation insurance offered by the agency you booked your trip with, or the one offered by your bank card. However, if you really want to be compensated in the event of an unforeseen event, the clauses of this type of contract rarely allow you to be reimbursed in full. So it’s best to take out cancellation insurance through certified insurers.

Mondassur is your ideal partner for finding the travel insurance that’s right for you. We’ve been international insurance brokers for over 20 years now, and we’ve always been keen to help our customers with their insurance needs, helping them to compare the different contracts available on the market so as to offer them the contract that best suits their situation and needs.
