How to find job offers in India?

Website

To start, you can consult the job offers on the websites to see which sectors carry activity. Many job search sites will offer you India as a destination, you will have access to offers to see the profiles sought and salary offered. Do not forget to activate job offers on your professional networks too.

Embassies and Consulates

Then you can go through the embassies and consulates. Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has created a job service for French people looking for a job or internship in India.

Unsolicited applications

Identify local companies that interest you, and do not hesitate to send spontaneous applications. Be sure to stay in touch for a while at the address you are communicating, as resume are often kept for a long time.

Recruitment agencies

If you have little time or trouble getting answers, you can also go through recruitment offices that will help you in the search and recruiting process.

Networking

So you will naturally start using the traditional channels mentioned above: browsing the newspapers, exploring the Internet, sending your application directly to a company that has a branch on site, or by contacting recruitment offices.
Indians also attach great importance to personal relationships. Try to use as much as possible networking and interviews. Anyway, write a concise resume of about two pages, in which you put a strong emphasis on your training. In India, diplomas are important, and it is usual to mention your specializations, and even the results you have obtained.

Which sectors recruit in India?

If you want to work in India, the most dynamic sectors of the Indian economy are automotive, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear, computer and textile.
Highly skilled technical staff or management staff (healthcare, water treatment, etc.) expatriates are in great demand. Employment opportunities for expatriates are also numerous in the university sector and more particularly in the teaching of languages.

The Indian business is very demanding of highly qualified executives with technical expertise in the following sectors: advanced engineering, petrochemical, energy, infrastructure and telecommunications. Young graduates with little experience are unlikely to find employment in India.

Visas and work permits in India

The requirements for obtaining a work visa are not particularly strict, but you will only be able to work in India if you obtain one.
An "E", "Employment" work visa for private sector companies and an "E" or "X" work visa are required for NGO staff.

You will need the employment contract and the intervention of your future employer to be able to finalize the visa application. The visa is conditional on the amount of wages in India: foreigners must receive a minimum of 18 000 € per year to obtain a visa of employment. However, some professions are exempt from it, such as French-language professors, translators, cooks and NGO staff.

The procedure may take some time. It is therefore better not to delay before submitting your application. Also note that you will need to produce a whole series of official documents, such as an employment contract, a notarized financial guarantee and a document describing the position to be filled.
